Workshop discusses circular economic development in southern provinces and cities

A workshop on the development of the circular economy in southern provinces and cities was jointly held by Communist Review and the Can Tho municipal Party Committee on November 10, attracting the participation of over 200 delegates including managers, scientists, researchers, and entrepreneurs.

In recent years, in southern provinces and cities, some economic models have operated on the principles of the circular economy and have brought about some remarkable results, such as: the waste management complex in Binh Duong province, models of high-tech application in closed livestock husbandry in Tien Giang province; a model of insect farm and closed bio-products in Can Tho city, amongst others.

However, most of these circular economic models are self-employed by businesses and individuals and lacksupport mechanisms and policies from state management agencies.

At the workshop, delegates’ speeches clarified the advantages of the circular economic model and introduced experiences of other countries in the world in terms of implementing this model; as well as pointing out opportunities and challenges when operating this model in Vietnam, especially in southern provinces and cities.

A number of solutions were also proposed for the Party, State and Government to promote circular economic development in the future.
