The Military-run Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel) continues to lead as the top largest taxpayers in Vietnam for the fifth consecutive year according to the list of the top 1,000 corporate income tax payers, V1000, released by the General Department of Taxation. |
Under the V1000 report, Viettel contributed over 37 trillion VND (1.6 billion USD) to the state budget in 2020. The telecom giant is also the only telecommunications operator and the only state-owned corporation named in the top 10 of the V1000 list. Viettel has contributed over 230 trillion VND (nearly 10 billion USD) to the state budget over the 2016-2021 period. The corporation has focused on accelerating digital transformation activities and successfully transformed into a digital service, provided to maintain its growth since 2018. Viettel has formed six fundamental fields of the digital society, including: infrastructure, solutions, finance, content, network security and high-tech production. Viettel is also a pioneer in providing digital products, especially the implementation of digital government, smart city operation centres, health, education, and traffic. The corporation has also successfully manufactured and tested 5G equipment, putting Vietnam on the list of the first six countries to master 5G technology.
