Vietnam receives 213.6 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine

As of February 9, Vietnam has received 213.6 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine and distributed 196 million doses of all kinds.

The specialised agencies of the Ministry of Health have just allocated 1.73 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine to serve the needs of localities around the country. This is the 123rd batch distributed since the vaccines arrived in Vietnam in February 2021.

By February 8, Vietnam has mostly received the Pfizer vaccine,with a total of over 77.3 million doses, and AstraZeneca, with 63.1 million doses.

Accordingly, over 106.3 million doses of vaccine were purchased from the state budget and more than 107.3 million were obtained from various aid and sponsorship sources.

As of the end of February 8, Vietnam has administered 183.729.446 million jabs, including 79.154.392 million first doses, 74.430.220 million second ones and 30.144.834 million third and booster shots.

The Ministry of Health has just sent a dispatch to the Secretaries of the Party Committees, and Chairmen of the People’s Committees of 12 localities including Thanh Hoa, Hai Duong, Thai Nguyen, Quang Tri, Quang Nam, Binh Dinh, Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Tien Giang, Can Tho, An Giang and Kien Giang, on accelerating the use of the Cuban-made vaccine, Abdala.

In addition, the ministry has also issued an urgent document to request localities to focus on accelerating the COVID-19 vaccination campaign during spring.
