NDO – Three V.League clubs have sent official documents to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and the Vietnam Professional Football Company (VPF) proposing a premature end to the 2020 season after the recent decision to suspend the top-flight league with no confirmed date for its return. |
Given the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic in Da Nang, the VPF recently decided to temporarily halt the V.League and the National First Division Tournament until infection sources are brought under control. Within the documents sent to the VFF and VPF, Song Lam Nghe An, Thanh Hoa FC and Quang Nam FC recommended awarding the V.League trophy to the current leaders, Saigon FC, recognising the top three places (Viettel FC in second and Quang Ninh Coal in third), and leaving no teams relegated this season. The three clubs also proposed that the two highest-ranked teams in the 2020 National First Division Tournament be promoted to play in V.League 2021. In the face of the issue, the VFF is planning to convene a meeting this afternoon to discuss the situation of Vietnamese football amidst the complicated developments of COVID-19. On July 27, the VFF announced an adjustment to the schedule of the 2020 Vietnamese National Cup, with the four quarterfinal matches to be played on August 1-2, the semifinals set for August 6, and the title match to take place three days later.
