Top leader praises Red Cross Society in congratulatory letter

General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong has stated his high appreciation for the contributions of the Vietnam Red Cross Society in a letter sent to the organisation on the occasion of its patriotic emulation congress.

In his message, the top leader said that many of the campaigns launched by the society over the past five years have witnessed the broad participation of government agencies, social organisations, enterprises, philanthropists and the people.

He underlined programmes to ensure an enjoyable Lunar New Year for poor people and AO/dioxin victims, blood donation campaigns, and cow bank projects and disaster relief efforts as notable examples of the Red Cross Society’s achievements.

The General Secretary stated that the society’s activities have brought joy to millions of underprivileged people, propagated altruism and helped realise the Party and State’s social welfare policies.

He took the occasion to ask the society to continue promoting its role as a humanitarian agency, thus motivating more and more people and organisations to take part in humanitarian activities.

The Party and State leader also urged the authorities at all levels to facilitate the society’s operations so that the organisation can fulfil its mission effectively.
