NDO – The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) held a ceremony in Hanoi on July 23 to present the ‘For Peace and Friendship among Nations’ insignia to outgoing Spanish ambassador to Vietnam Maria Jesus Figa Lopez-Palop. |
The accolade was handed over to recognise the diplomat’s positive contributions to enhancing and promoting the traditional friendship and cooperation amongst the people of the two countries during her term of office in Vietnam. Addressing the event, VUFO President Nguyen Thi Phuong Nga outlined how since Vietnam and Spain established their diplomatic ties in 1977, the two countries have gained remarkable achievements, particularly the establishment of bilateral strategic partnerships. She stressed that the fruitful outcomes have resulted from the efforts made by the ambassadors, diplomats and friendship organisations of Vietnam and Spain, including Ambassador Maria Jesus Figa Lopez-Palop. During her three-year tenure in Vietnam, the Ambassador was not only active in fostering bilateral ties but also worked closely with the Vietnam – Spanish Friendship Association to enhance person to person exchange and the nurturing of the friendship between people of the two countries. For her part, the Spanish ambassador said it was an honour to receive the insignia, particularly as her tenure in Vietnam is the last in her diplomatic career. She also expressed her belief that the Spainish-Vietnamese relationship will develop further across all areas. Source: Nhan Dan Online |
