The last two COVID-19 patients in Quang Nam Province were discharged from hospital on Tuesday afternoon (Sep 29), meaning that the central province is now free from the coronavirus.
Information from the Quang Nam Department of Health revealed that, the duo, known as Patients no. 561 and 981, were released from Quang Nam Central General Hospital following a full recovery.
Both are local residents and after their effective treatment at the hospital, they have shown multiple negative test results for SARS-CoV-2 – the coronavirus that causes COVID-19.
They were sent to their hometown to continue practicing self-isolation under the medical supervision of local health workers.
Earlier the same day, the hospital also discharged two relapse cases, known as Patients no. 549 and 550.
Previously, the two women from Hoi An City, Quang Nam Province had contracted the virus and recovered later, but they thereafter tested re-positive for SARS-CoV-2.
After their discharge, the duo will continue their home isolation for the next 14 days and undergo two more tests before fully reintegrating into the community.
Up until now, Quang Nam has had 41 consecutive days without a new COVID-19 infection in the community.
On a national scale, it has been 27 days since Vietnam recorded its last infection in the community. Up to now, total recoveries has passed the 1,000th benchmark of the total 1,077 infections.
According to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, there is no severely-ill cases among the remaining COVID-19 patients and fatalities remain at 35 with most of them having been elderly people suffering from serious comorbidities.
Also today, Soc Trang Province released 146 Vietnamese citizens from concentrated isolation after finishing their 14-day quarantine. They were repatriated from Singapore and sent to a local camp in Soc Trang on September 14.
All of them are healthy and have tested negative for SARS-CoV-2. The Provincial Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control arranged coaches to send them home on Tuesday morning.
