Addressing the event, Chairman of the Association of Vietnamese People in Vientiane Le Van Mui said that the COVID-19 pandemic in both Vietnam and Laos have been in good control, contributing to creating positive economic situation and stable lives of the peoples. This year, many Vietnamese cannot return to the homeland for Tet, so the Association of Vietnamese People in Vientiane has organised a programme to give them the opportunity to gather and enjoy the Tet atmosphere, Mui said. On the occasion, 300 chung cakes were made to present to needy Vietnamese people in Vientiane. The programme also includes performances of traditional Vietnamese costumes and songs, recreation of the life of the Vietnamese during Tet, showcase of Tet market, and others. *Staff at the Vietnamese Embassy in China and Vietnamese representative offices in Beijing held a get together on February 6 to welcome Tet. Charge d’affaires of the Vietnamese Embassy in China Pham Thanh Binh said that, due to the pandemic, many Vietnamese people in China cannot attend the get together as usual, so he sent his best Tet wishes to all Vietnamese people in China. The Consulate General of Vietnam in Kunming, China, also held a ceremony on the same day to celebrate the success of the 13th National Party Congress and welcome the Lunar New Year 2021.
