A ceremony was held by the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists (VAPA) in Hanoi on March 14 to present awards to the most outstanding photos in 2021 on the occasion of the 69th anniversary of the traditional day of Vietnamese photography (March 15, 1953-2022). |
The jury council selected the 28 most outstanding photos in 2021 following many rounds of judging. Specifically, the VAPA Cup was granted to the set of photos titled “Border checkpoints of COVID-19 prevention and control” by Huynh Van Truyen (from Da Nang). In addition, three A prizes were presented to the set of photos titled “Traditional handicraft of making corn noodle” by Le Chau Dao (from Phu Yen), the photo book “Photos telling villages’ stories” by Tran Quoc Tuan (from Vinh Phuc) and the photo “New Citizen” by Tran Van Tuy (from Binh Thuan). A total of nine B prizes and 15 C prizes were also presented to photos, critical theory works and photo books with high artistic quality and content. On the occasion, the organising board awarded 29 medals of the VAPA, conferred 11 photographic artist titles and admitted 39 new members. Over the past 69 years, the position of Vietnamese photography in the country’s social life has seen significant improvement. The VAPA has been honoured with many noble titles including the Ho Chi Minh Order, the first-class Independence Order, and the second and third-class Labour Order.
