More gifts delivered to disadvantaged people ahead of Lunar New Year

On the occasion of the Lunar New Year (Tet), the Fatherland Front Committee of Thai Binh Province has spent more than VND300 million (US$13,000) from the province’s “For the Poor” fund to present 1,000 gifts to needy people and Agent Orange (AO) victims.

The committee also received 610 gifts worth over VND610 million (around US$26,400) from the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee for disadvantaged people and Vu Thu District’s social protection centre.

The provincial businesses’ association has mobilised more than 33,500 gifts worth VND13.4 billion (US$580,546) from local enterprises to present to poor and near-poor households.

* On February 4, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour organised a ceremony to receive VND2 billion (US$86,660) as a gift from the Vietnam Bank for Industry and Trade (VietinBank) to workers living in difficult circumstances and those affected by the pandemic and natural disasters.

* On the same day, the Labour Federation of An Giang Province, in coordination with the trade unions of the province’s industrial parks, organised 805 Tet gifts for needy workers and trade union members.

* On the Tet occasion, authorised by the Nhan Dan Newspaper Editorial Board, Nhan Dan’s resident reporter in Thanh Hoa Province visited and presented gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mother Nguyen Thi Phang in Quang Phuc Commune, war invalid Dong Van Han in Quang Khe Commune, and AO-infected veteran Doan Cong Mien in Quang Hai Commune (Quang Xuong District).

The leaders of the Provincial Women’s Union visited and presented gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mother Le Thi Van in Dong Son District’s Dong Ninh Commune and 20 disadvantaged members in the districts of Thach Thanh and Ngoc Lac.

The Nghi Son Refinery & Petrochemical Limited Liability Company, in coordination with the Fatherland Front Committee of Nghi Son Town, visited and presented 165 gifts worth VND700,000 each to poor households across the locality. Tien Son Thanh Hoa Joint Stock Company organised a “Tet for the poor” programme, presenting 100 Tet gifts worth VND500,000 each to needy households and policy beneficiary families in 10 communes of Nga Son District.
