Hanoi’s import and export activities reported positive results in the first quarter of this year with total import and export revenue reaching 12.7 billion USD, up 14.7 percent over the same period in 2021, according to the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade. |
The city’s export revenue was posted at 3.6 billion USD, up 6.1 percent, while import revenue reached 9.1 billion USD, up 18.5 percent over the same period last year. Some commodity groups saw high export turnover over the same period in 2021 including means of transport and spare parts at 384 million USD, up 21.9 percent; agricultural products at 208 million USD, up 26.2 percent; textile and garment products at 637 million USD, up 48.7 percent; computers, electronic goods and components at 560 million USD, up 10.6 percent; wood and wood products at 234 million USD, up 52.2 percent. Meanwhile, several commodity groups reported declining export turnover over the same period last year, including machinery, equipment and spare parts at 405 million USD, down 16.6 percent; phones and components at 29 million USD, down 69.8 percent; other goods at 719 million USD, down 18.2 percent. Some groups of commodities posted high import values such as gasoline at 904 million USD, up 73.6 percent; computers, electronic products and components at 864 million USD, up 43.2 percent, iron and steel at 462 million USD, up 44.1 percent, and others. According to the Hanoi Statistics Office, the Hanoi consumer price index (CPI) in March 2022 increased by 0.91 percent over the previous month and by 3.21 percent compared to the same period last year.
