Hanoi metro line scheduled to start service on November 6

Hanoi’s metro line 2A, also known as the Cat Linh-Ha Dong line, is expected to commence service on November 6 after it is transferred from the Ministry of Transport to Hanoi.

During the first six months, six trains will be operated at a time, with a frequency of ten minutes, under an operation plan approved by Hanoi and the transport ministry.

In the next six months, nine trains will be put into service at 100% capacity.

Passengers will be exempted from fares for the first 15 days of service, according to Nguyen Hong Truong, Director of the Hanoi Metro, which is responsible for running the line.

Among the six trains, three will run non-stop between the two terminals for touring purposes while the other three will serve the normal travel needs of passengers.

The rail line will be connected with 55 existing public bus routes.
