Hanoi Labour Federation supports workers to overcome COVID-19 pandemic

Chairman of the Hanoi Labour Federation Nguyen Phi Thuong has asked the city’s trade unions at all levels to take more active measures to help workers overcome the challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

At a meeting of the Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control on August 9, Thuong said that amidst complicated developments of COVID-19 in the city, trade unions should take greater care of workers whose livelihoods are being affected by COVID-19 through the launch of ‘zero-VND’ mini supermarkets and ‘zero VND supermarkets on buses’.

Notably, ten days after being launched, the buses have brought essential items to 14,800 pandemic-hit workers in the city.

At a time when Hanoi is applying social distancing measures following Prime Minister’s Directive 16, the city’s trade unions at all levels have allocated over VND30 billion and mobilised an additional VND84 billion from social resources to support labourers and those working in the frontline against COVID-19 in the city.
