Guidelines on using newly approved COVID-19 vaccines to be issued soon

The Department of Preventive Medicine under the Ministry of Health has sent an urgent document requesting the National Expanded Programme for Immunisation and the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology to urgent develop guidelines on the use of newly approved COVID-19 vaccines (such as Hayat-Vax and Abdala).

In addition, the department also asked for the updating of guidelines for vaccines that have been used in the country such as AstraZeneca, Sputnik V, Pfizer, Moderna, Vero Cell and Johnson&Johnson.

The National Expanded Programme for Immunisation must coordinate with the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology and the Pasteur Institute to plan and expeditiously organise training and instruction on COVID-19 vaccination for provinces and cities nationwide before October 5.

According to the MoH, around 400,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine donated by Japan have arrived in Vietnam.

Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Health and the Vietnam Fatherland Front held a handover ceremony to receive the vaccines and medical equipment and materials for the fight against the COVID-19 that were transported to Vietnam on the special plane of President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, who concluded his official visit to Cuba and attending of the high-level open debate of the UN General Assembly and bilateral activities in New York City, the US.

As of the end of September 24, over 37.58 million doses of vaccine were administered to people around the country so far, including more than 30.02 million first shots and 7.55 million second jabs.
