Football: Spurs make Europa League knockout stage with 3-3 draw at LASK

Tottenham Hotspur earned the point they needed to reach the Europa League knockout stage on Thursday as they were held to a roller-coaster 3-3 draw at LASK Linz after Mamoudou Karamoko grabbed a stoppage-time equaliser for the Austrians.

* Seven-time European champions AC Milan hit back from two goals down against Celtic to claim a 4-2 victory that sent them into the Europa League knockout phase on Thursday (Dec 3) as they were among 14 teams to progress in Europe’s second-tier competition.

* The Premier League has reached an agreement with the English Football League (EFL) to provide a 250 million pounds (US$336.13 million) bailout package for lower division clubs struggling financially due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Premier League clubs gave their final approval to the agreement at a shareholders’ meeting on Thursday.

* Former Wolverhampton Wanderers and Copenhagen coach Stale Solbakken has been handed the reins of the Norwegian national team, the national federation announced on Thursday (Dec 3). The 52-year-old, who was sacked by Copenhagen in October, replaces the Swede Lars Lagerback, who has stepped down, even though his contract took him through to the 2022 World Cup.

* Barcelona’s interim president Carlos Tusquets has said that the club will delay players’ wage payments scheduled for January amid what he described as a worrying financial situation.

* Fans will have to wear face masks when they return to Premier League grounds in small numbers at the weekend and avoid hugging each other when celebrating goals, clubs have been told under the Premier League’s protocol for the return of up to 2,000 fans to 10 of their 20 venues.

* Italy have been drawn to face Spain while Belgium will meet France in the last four of the Nations League finals which will be hosted by the Italians next October, UEFA said on Thursday.
