The Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism will organise a programme of Chung cake (square glutinous rice cake) wrapping, and present 2,000 Chung cake and Tet gifts to poor people in Ha Tinh, Quang Binh and Quang Tri provinces. The organising board will prepare about 1,000 gift bags, worth about VND 500,000 (US$ 21.7) each to offer poor people in the provinces of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, and Quang Tri. In addition, the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism has also organised events to celebrate Tet including traditional flower markets, exhibitions of ornamental plants, Tet market festivals, song and dance performances, culinary festivals, and others. The events aim to introduce to visitors the unique culture involved in celebrating the traditional Lunar New Year of Vietnam, contributing to conserving, preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of Vietnamese ethnic groups. * The People’s Committee of Yen Thanh commune, Yen Mo district, held a humanitarian Lunar New Year fair in support of the poor and the disabled in Yen Thanh, Yen Dong and Yen Thai – the poorest communes of Yen Mo district, on January 25. Joining the event, 180 poor households and those living with disabilities had a chance to receive vouchers worth VND 500,000 (US$ 21.7), which can be used once to access necessities for free at stalls.
