The Institute for Brand and Competitiveness Strategy held a workshop in Hanoi on May 19 to discuss some practical issues raised in finalizing the draft Petroleum Law, in order to contribute to the sustainable development of Vietnam’s oil and gas industry. |
Experts agree that the purpose of this law-making is to improve the practicality and feasibility of the Oil and Gas Law, and to ensure the uniformity and consistency of the legal system in the basic article on gas and oil operations. At the workshop, Director of the Institute for Brand and Competitiveness Strategy Vo Tri Thanh said that at the 3rd session of the 15th National Assembly, the first revised draft of the Petroleum Law was introduced to National Assembly deputies for consideration and discussion. The current Petroleum Law was promulgated on July 6, 1993, amended and supplemented in 2000, 2008 and legal documents detailing and guiding its implementation have facilitated the development of the oil and gas industry. Delegates at the workshop also mentioned the financial terms within the scope of the bill that have not been specifically mentioned such as priority policies, budget spending plans, and mobilising investment capital for the oil and gas industry, as well as issues relate to market competition.
